Badya University Established an Affiliation Agreement with the University of Texas Medical Branch

Cairo, December 25, 2023: Badya University, Taaleem’s higher education institution in West Cairo, signed an agreement with the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). UTMB is a prominent academic health science center located in Galveston, Texas. Established in 1891, UTMB is renowned for its comprehensive medical education, cutting-edge research, and high-quality patient care services. The institution plays a crucial role in training healthcare professionals, advancing medical knowledge, and providing healthcare to the Gulf Coast region and beyond. Under this agreement, Badya University and UTMB will explore various avenues of collaboration, including reciprocal exchange programs for students and faculty, collaborative research projects, the exchange of publications, reports, and other academic information, as well as collaborative professional development initiatives. 

 

On December 12, 2023, the agreement's signing ceremony was hosted by the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ayman Ashour, where discussions of the collaboration opportunities between the two institutions were held. UTMB was represented by Dr. Jochen Raiser, the President of UTMB, and Dr. Gulshan Sharma, MD, Senior Vice President of UTMB, while Badya University was represented by Mohamed El Rashidi, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Dr. Hossam El Mallahy, the President of Badya University. In this regard, the Minister of Higher Education expressed his delight with the agreement, stating: “The cooperation between the University of Texas Medical Branch and Badya University is the beginning of a phase of excellence, innovation, and progress that pushes towards a future in which innovation, research, and academic excellence know no borders.”

 

Following the signing ceremony, UTMB’s delegation, along with Badya University’s representatives, met with the Prime Minister of Egypt, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, who expressed his appreciation for the collaboration between Badya University and UTMB in the field of scientific research, commenting: “The University of Texas Medical Branch holds a prestigious international reputation, and this partnership aligns seamlessly with our government's commitment to supporting high-quality and extensive scientific research initiatives." He further emphasized, "The collaboration between Badya University and the University of Texas in the field of healthcare specialization holds significant importance. It is a crucial component of our national strategy aimed at advancing higher education and scientific research in the country."
